Virat Kohli Sets World Record with 800 Fours for a Single Team in T20s, Nears Multiple Milestones

Virat Kohli, the heartbeat of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, added another historic achievement to his glittering T20 career. During RCB’s 13th IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kohli became the first player in the world to hit 800 fours for a single team in T20 cricket. The veteran batter reached the milestone in style, smashing a boundary off Harshal Patel in the fourth over, eventually ending with a 25-ball 43, including seven fours and a six, in a 232-run chase.

Kohli, who has played all 18 IPL seasons for RCB since 2008, further cemented his loyalty and legacy with this record. The next closest in the list is James Vince (694 fours for Hampshire), far behind the Indian maestro. Kohli also became the only player in T20 history to play 18 seasons for a single team.

Despite his solid start, Kohli missed out on a few more major records. He was just 24 runs away from becoming the first-ever cricketer to score 9000 T20 runs for a single franchise, and just one half-century short of breaking the tie with David Warner for most IPL fifties (62). He also fell seven runs short of equaling the record for most consecutive fifties in the IPL.

Unfortunately for RCB, Kohli’s knock couldn’t rescue them as they lost their last five wickets for just 15 runs, handing SRH a 42-run victory in the end. Still, the night belonged to Kohli for etching yet another record in the annals of T20 cricket.
