In a historic milestone for Pakistan’s minority communities, Kashish Chaudhary, a 25-year-old from Noshki town in Chagai district, has become the first Hindu woman to be appointed as Assistant Commissioner in Balochistan.

Chaudhary cleared the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam after three years of dedicated preparation, studying over eight hours a day. She attributed her success to “discipline, hard work, and the desire to contribute to society.”

Speaking to SAMAA News, she shared,

“This journey was not easy, but my goal was clear — to serve the people and become a symbol of change, especially for women and minorities.”

Her father, Girdhari Lal, a mid-level trader, expressed immense pride in his daughter’s achievement:

“It is a matter of great pride for me that my daughter has reached this position through her hard work and commitment. She always dreamt of doing something meaningful for women.”

Kashish met with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti in Quetta on Monday. During their meeting, she reaffirmed her commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive development.

“Kashish is a symbol of pride for the nation and for Balochistan,” said CM Bugti, commending her determination and service spirit.

A Beacon of Hope for Pakistan’s Hindu Community

Chaudhary’s achievement adds to the growing list of trailblazing Hindu women in Pakistan breaking barriers in male-dominated fields:

  • Manesh Ropeta, appointed as Superintendent of Police in Karachi in 2022, was the first Hindu woman to achieve this rank.

  • Pushpa Kumari Kohli, a sub-inspector in Karachi, said,

“There are many more Hindu girls waiting for opportunities. We just need support and education.”

  • Suman Pawan Bodani became a civil judge in Shahdadkot, Sindh, in 2019.

Politician Ramesh Kumar Vankwani also praised the shift, noting that young Hindu girls, with family support, are increasingly choosing education and public service careers.

“Our young women are doing us proud. We have doctors, civil servants, and police officers making a difference in society.”

Kashish Chaudhary’s appointment is not only a personal triumph but also a symbol of progress and representation for Pakistan’s minorities, especially Hindu women in Balochistan.
