Cuttack, Odisha | Oct 7, 2025: Authorities have lifted the 36-hour curfew in Cuttack following recent clashes, confirming that normalcy has returned to the city.
Twin City Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh stated that the curfew, which began at 10 PM on Sunday, ended as scheduled at 10 AM on Tuesday. Restrictions had been imposed across 13 sensitive areas after reports of unrest.
“The situation is being closely monitored, and adequate police have been deployed at sensitive areas. No untoward incident was reported during the curfew period,” the Commissioner said.
Internet Ban Continues
While curfew restrictions have ended, the temporary suspension of internet services has been extended until 7 PM on October 7, covering key areas under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), and 42 Mauza regions. The Odisha Home Department said the extension was necessary to prevent the spread of rumours and provocative content online.
Appeal for Peace
The administration has urged residents to cooperate with authorities and maintain peace. Officials have also warned that any attempt to spread misinformation or disturb law and order will invite strict legal action.
The city is slowly returning to normal, but police presence remains high in sensitive pockets to ensure stability.
