Asian Shooting Championship: Manu Bhaker Wins Bronze in 10m Air Pistol, India’s Medal Tally Rises

Shymkent, Aug 19, 2025: Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker clinched a bronze medal in the 10m women’s air pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championship on Tuesday, adding another podium finish to India’s impressive run.

The 22-year-old shooter scored 219.7 in the eight-woman final to settle for third place. China’s Qianke Ma secured the gold medal with 243.2 points, while Korea’s Yang Jiin claimed silver with 241.6 points.

Strong Qualification Round

Earlier in the 60-shot qualification, Manu showcased her consistency by finishing third with 583 – 18x, ahead of Korea’s Jiin (581 – 16x, fifth) and China’s Ma (579 – 15x, seventh). Her performance ensured a smooth entry into the final round.

India’s Medal Haul So Far

India has started the championship on a strong note. On the opening day, the shooters bagged two gold and three silver medals:

  • Kapil Bainsla struck gold in the junior men’s 10m air pistol.

  • India won silver in both the senior and junior men’s team events.

  • The trio of Anmol Jain, Saurabh Chaudhary, and Aditya Malra combined to win silver in the men’s 10m air pistol team event, scoring 1735-52x, just behind China’s 1744-51x.

  • Girish Gupta, aged 17, delivered a stunning performance in the 10m men’s youth air pistol, taking gold with 241.3, followed by fellow Indian Dev Pratap, only 14 years old, who clinched silver with 238.6.

India’s Contingent at Shymkent

India has sent a 35-member senior shooting squad, competing across 15 events. Additionally, 129 junior shooters are in contention, making it one of India’s largest contingents at the Asian Shooting Championship.

With Manu Bhaker’s bronze and India’s overall success across categories, the country continues to build momentum ahead of upcoming international competitions.
