Odisha to Begin PMAY-G Housing Distribution from November; Antyodaya Houses in September

Bhubaneswar, Aug 18, 2025: The Odisha government will begin distributing houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) from November 2025, Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik announced on Monday. The scheme will benefit lakhs of eligible rural households, including separated individuals, differently-abled persons, widows, and vulnerable groups.

Ahead of this, the State will also roll out pucca houses under the Antyodaya Yojana in September, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. Beneficiaries identified under this scheme will receive houses in alignment with the larger PMAY-G initiative.

Housing in Phases for Wider Coverage

Minister Naik clarified that although the official PMAY-G rollout begins in November, house allotment will continue in successive phases, ensuring inclusive coverage of rural households.

“PMAY-G is an ambitious Central government scheme that ensures every poor household has a roof. We have made arrangements to provide housing support to separated and differently-abled persons,” the Minister said.

Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana Launched in March

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana 2025 in Kalahandi district on March 30. The State initiative, complementing PMAY-G, aims to benefit 50,000 vulnerable individuals, including differently-abled persons, widows, patients with critical ailments, families of martyrs, and Padma Shri awardees.

Beneficiary Identification

To ensure transparency, an Awas survey operation was carried out till March 31, identifying nearly 19 lakh potential beneficiaries. More registrations are expected as the verification process continues.

Commitment to Dignified Housing

With the combined efforts of Central and State governments, Odisha’s housing push under PMAY-G and Antyodaya Yojana seeks to transform rural housing conditions, improve quality of life, and fulfil the vision of “Housing for All”.
