July 17, New Delhi: Google is taking a major leap in enhancing its AI-powered Search experience with the introduction of Gemini 2.5 Pro, Deep Search, and a new AI-powered calling feature designed to help users contact local businesses. The rollout has begun in the United States, exclusively for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, with no confirmed timeline for India.
Gemini 2.5 Pro in Search’s AI Mode
In an official blog post, Google announced that Gemini 2.5 Pro, its most advanced AI model, is now available within Search’s AI Mode. Accessible via a dropdown menu, this powerful assistant is designed to handle complex queries, including math, logic-based questions, and coding tasks. Gemini 2.5 Pro also offers link-backed citations to help users dive deeper into sources — ideal for researchers, students, and power users.
This tool is currently limited to Labs users on the Pro and Ultra subscription tiers.
Deep Search: AI-Powered Research Assistant
A standout addition to Search is Deep Search, which leverages Gemini 2.5 Pro to conduct hundreds of searches in the background and generate comprehensive, cited summaries. Tailored for deep-dive research, it aids in areas like academic projects, personal finance planning, and major life decisions such as home buying.
Also restricted to Labs users on the Pro and Ultra plans, Deep Search elevates the traditional search experience by streamlining time-consuming research into one consolidated, AI-curated response.
AI-Powered Calls for Local Services
In a move that brings AI into practical, everyday use, Google has launched an AI-calling feature for Search. When users search for local services — for example, “pet groomers near me” — they’ll now see an option to “Have AI check pricing.” Google’s AI will then place calls on the user’s behalf, gather pricing and appointment availability, and return the results.
This feature is being rolled out to all users in the US, with increased usage limits for paying subscribers. It streamlines the process of finding service providers, eliminating the need to make multiple phone calls.
More Features for Pro Users & Made by Google 2025 Event
Google says the most advanced AI features will continue to arrive first for Pro and Ultra subscribers, indicating a tiered approach to future innovation. The company is also gearing up for the Made by Google 2025 event on August 20, where it is expected to launch the next-generation Pixel smartphones, Pixel Watch, and other devices.
