Gurugram Woman Shot Dead by Father Over Social Media Reel; Victim Identified as ITF-Ranked Tennis Player Radhika Yadav

In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her father at their home in Sector 57, Gurugram, following an argument over a social media video she had posted.

The victim, identified as Radhika Yadav, was a professional tennis player ranked 113 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles category, according to tenniskhelo.com.

The incident took place around 10:30 am on the first floor of the family’s residence. Preliminary police reports indicate that an altercation broke out between Radhika and her father over a video reel she had uploaded on social media. In a fit of rage, he allegedly fired three rounds at her using his licensed revolver.

Radhika was rushed to a nearby private hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram Police, said: “Initial findings suggest a social media post led to tension in the household. The father became agitated and shot her. The weapon, a licensed revolver, has been recovered.”

Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 Police Station, confirmed that police were alerted by the hospital where Radhika was taken. “By the time we arrived, she had passed away. Statements from family members confirmed the father’s involvement,” he said.

Born on March 23, 2000, Radhika had been among India’s rising tennis talents, consistently ranking in the ITF doubles top 200.
