Palakollu (Andhra Pradesh), June 24, 2025 — Dangeti Jahnavi, a trailblazer from Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district, is poised to etch her name in history by traveling to space in 2029. She will be among the select individuals set to visit the Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station, a U.S.-based private space venture expected to become operational within the next four years.
Jahnavi, a graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, holds the rare distinction of being the first Indian to successfully complete NASA’s International Air and Space Program (IASP).
Journey from Palakollu to the Stars
Raised in a small town and the daughter of Srinivas and Padmasri, who currently live in Kuwait, Jahnavi has transformed her passion for space into a globally recognised career in aerospace and STEM outreach.
She began her academic journey in Palakollu before rising through the ranks of India’s student science community. Her international profile rapidly expanded after participating in global analog missions, engaging in deep-sea diving, and attending high-level conferences focused on planetary science and sustainable long-duration space travel.
Trailblazer in Space Science and Outreach
Beyond her personal achievements, Jahnavi has become a prominent advocate for STEM education. She has collaborated with ISRO on youth outreach programs and delivered talks at several National Institutes of Technology (NITs), inspiring students across India.
Among her key achievements:
-
Played a significant role in the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), leading to the provisional discovery of an asteroid using data from Pan-STARRS.
-
Became the youngest foreign analog astronaut and the first Indian selected for Space Iceland’s planetary geology training.
-
Won the People’s Choice Award at the NASA Space Apps Challenge.
-
Conferred the ISRO World Space Week Young Achiever Award.
Heading to Titan’s Orbital Port
Jahnavi’s next milestone is her selection for the Titan’s Orbital Port mission, one of the most ambitious privately-led space infrastructure projects. Her participation reflects the increasing involvement of young Indian professionals in the global space sector.
A Beacon of Inspiration
Dangeti Jahnavi’s journey represents a remarkable intersection of academic excellence, scientific exploration, and public service in the space sector. As India eyes deeper participation in global space missions, her story stands as a powerful reminder of what young talent from small towns can achieve with vision, hard work, and opportunity.
