Bhubaneswar — In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhubaneswar tomorrow to commemorate one year of the BJP-led government in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today conducted a thorough inspection of preparations at Janata Maidan, the venue for the grand public event.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure flawless arrangements, particularly those concerning security, infrastructure, and logistics for the Prime Minister’s participation. He emphasized the timely completion of all work by this evening, given the high-profile nature of the event and the expected public turnout.

The team received a detailed briefing from Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma about the event’s logistics, crowd management, and public outreach.
Massive Security Deployment in Bhubaneswar
Twin City Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh stated that unprecedented security measures have been implemented for the PM’s visit:
-
133 platoons of police have been deployed.
-
Over 500 officers, including Additional DCPs, DCPs, IGs, and ADGs, are supervising operations.
-
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and intelligence agencies are involved for anti-terror and anti-sabotage operations.
“Security has been heightened from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Janata Maidan with strict traffic controls, surveillance checks, and a ban on drone usage,” Singh added.
Emergency Preparedness Amid Monsoon Threat
Given the monsoon season, Odisha Fire Services and ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) teams are stationed at key locations. Contingency plans are in place to handle any weather-related or emergency situations.
A traffic advisory has been issued to facilitate the Prime Minister’s roadshow and convoy movement, and authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate fully.
Event Significance and Political Optics
The public meeting marks a major milestone for the BJP government in Odisha, which came to power in 2024, ending the BJD’s 24-year rule. The presence of Prime Minister Modi underscores the Centre’s backing and is seen as a strategic moment to boost BJP’s connect with the people of Odisha.
Sources indicate that PM Modi will address the public, highlighting the achievements of the state government over the past year and laying out a roadmap for the future, especially ahead of the 2036 Odisha Vision shared recently by CM Majhi.
