Jaipur, Oct 7, 2025: A major fire broke out on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Tuesday night after a truck carrying LPG cylinders collided with a tanker, triggering multiple explosions.
According to police, several gas cylinders burst due to the impact, sending some flying several meters away. The flames and explosions were visible and audible from kilometers around the accident site near the Dudu area.
Injuries and Rescue Operations
IG Jaipur Rahul Prakash confirmed that two to three persons, including the tanker driver, sustained injuries in the incident. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for primary treatment.
CMHO Jaipur-I Ravi Shekhawat said arrangements were in place at SMS Hospital, though no seriously injured patients had been admitted so far. One person received first aid at a hospital in Dudu.
Govt Response and Situation on Ground
Following Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s directions, Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa reached the spot and assured the public that the situation was under control. He confirmed that no casualties have been reported yet, but added that drivers and cleaners of the vehicles involved are missing, and efforts are underway to trace them.
Fire brigades and senior police officers rushed to the scene, and traffic on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway was halted as a precaution.
Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitnesses said the LPG truck was parked outside a roadside hotel while its driver went for dinner when a tanker rammed into it from behind.
“The tanker hit the stationary LPG truck, and explosions followed almost instantly. The tanker driver was injured and taken to hospital,” said Vinod, an eyewitness.
A Reminder of Past Tragedy
The incident comes less than a year after a deadly LPG tanker-truck collision near Bhankrota, Jaipur, on the same highway in December 2024, which claimed 19 lives after a massive fireball engulfed the area.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and traffic is expected to resume once the site is declared safe.
