BeMC observes 158th LSG Day in Berhampur

Berhampur, Sept 1: The Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Sunday observed its 158th year of establishment with a public programme to mark Local Self Governance (LSG) Day at the Khalikote College Ground.

The programme was led by Mayor Sangamitra Dalai and Commissioner Prathamesh Arvind Rajshirke, IAS, with Deputy Mayor Vivek Reddy also present. Civic officials described the occasion as an important reminder of BeMC’s role in urban governance and public service.

Steel & Mines, Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena attended as the chief guest. Brahmapur Sub-Collector Avinash Kumar, IAS, senior officials of BeMC and members of the public also took part.

Cultural programme

The evening featured cultural performances by noted artists. Bollywood playback singer Shasank Sekhar, Ollywood singers Dr. Chandan Gantayat, Sreejata Upadhyay, and comedy act Gulua were among the highlights. A number of local artists also performed folk and regional numbers.

Event arrangements

The event management was handled by Genres Ad Pvt Ltd, which provided stage design, sound and light systems, branding, and infrastructure support. The audience seating area was covered with waterproof German hangars and carpet flooring. Barricades were placed for crowd management.

A specially designed wooden memento was presented to dignitaries. A venue floor plan with separate VIP enclosures, general seating, performer areas and emergency exits was implemented.

Public participation

Officials said the open programme saw strong turnout from the residents of Berhampur. The observance combined formal addresses with cultural performances, and concluded with civic messages highlighting BeMC’s 158-year journey.
