Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Releases ₹1,041 Crore CM KISAN Assistance to Over 51 Lakh Farmers Ahead of Nuakhai

Bhubaneswar: A day before the Nuakhai festival, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed the third installment of CM KISAN assistance worth ₹1,041 crore to 51,54,115 small, marginal, and landless farmers of the state through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Addressing a state-level function organized by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department at OUAT campus — live-streamed to all districts — Majhi reaffirmed that his government has placed farmers’ welfare at the top of its agenda.

CM KISAN: Direct Support for Farmers

  • Each small and marginal farmer received ₹2,000, aimed at meeting input costs for the ongoing kharif operations.

  • Landless agricultural households — numbering 39,239 — were given support under CM KISAN to promote allied activities like goatery, poultry, duck rearing, and mushroom cultivation.

  • Annually, registered farmers now earn at least ₹38,000 more through CM KISAN. When combined with Subhadra Yojana assistance (₹10,000 yearly) and the PM KISAN benefits, their total income rises by at least ₹58,000, the CM said.

Boost to Agriculture and Paddy Procurement

Majhi highlighted that Odisha’s record paddy procurement of 92.63 lakh tonnes in the 2024-25 kharif season reflects strong growth in paddy productivity. Farmers also benefit from an additional input assistance of ₹800 per quintal over and above MSP, giving them better returns.

To tackle climate change and erratic monsoons, the CM underlined the need for crop diversification, with special focus on potato cultivation. Last year, over 1.60 lakh quintals of certified potato seed were distributed across all districts — a threefold increase from the previous year.

Farmer Registration Under Krushak Samruddhi Yojana

The CM expressed satisfaction that over 18 lakh farmers have registered under the Krushak Samruddhi Yojana to sell surplus paddy to the government at MSP. Accepting Deputy CM KV Singh Deo’s proposal, Majhi announced an extension of the registration date so that no farmer is left behind.

Inauguration of Krushak Bhawan

On the occasion, the CM also inaugurated the newly built Krushak Bhawan and Reception Centre at OUAT, constructed at a cost of ₹59 crore. The event was attended by Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, local MLA Babu Singh, and OUAT Vice-Chancellor Pravat Kumar Roul, among others.

Conclusion

The release of the third CM KISAN installment on the eve of Nuakhai reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening farmer incomes, supporting sustainable agriculture, and empowering landless households through allied activities.
