Veteran Kannada Actor Dinesh Mangaluru Passes Away at 55

Bengaluru, August 25, 2025: Renowned Kannada actor and art director Dinesh Mangaluru has passed away at the age of 55. The veteran artiste, best known for his supporting roles in films such as Aa Dinagalu, KGF, Ulidavaru Kandante, Kiccha and Kirik Party.

According to reports, Dinesh had been battling deteriorating health caused by a brain haemorrhage. Initially treated in Bengaluru, he was later admitted to Sargan Hospital in Kundapura, Udupi district, where he succumbed despite medical efforts.

A Journey from Theatre to Cinema

Hailing from Mangaluru, Dinesh began his artistic journey as a theatre actor before moving into cinema as an art director. His early work included films such as No. 73, Shantinivasa. He made his acting breakthrough with K. M. Chaitanya’s Aa Dinagalu (2007), where his portrayal of Sitaram Shetty won critical acclaim.

He rose to wider recognition with his performance as “Bombay Don” in the blockbuster KGF and went on to deliver memorable performances in Ulidavaru Kandante, Kiccha, and Kirik Party.

Tributes Pour In

The Kannada film fraternity expressed deep grief at his passing. Veteran director P. Sheshadri wrote on social media:

“A creative director, artist, producer, and dear friend, Dinesh Mangaluru is no more… Go in peace, my friend.”

Actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa also paid tribute, recalling their collaboration on Aa Dinagalu:

“He would claim with pride that his character Seetaram Shetty was the movie’s comedy relief 🙂 His contributions to stage & film will be remembered.”

Personal Life

Dinesh Mangaluru is survived by his wife Bharathi Pai and two sons, Surya Siddhartha and Sajan Pai. Details about his last rites are awaited.

His demise has left a deep void in the Sandalwood film community, where he will be remembered for his versatility, humour, and contributions both on and off screen.
