Bhubaneswar, July 15, 2025 — President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bhubaneswar this afternoon, commencing her two-day official visit to her home state Odisha. She received a warm welcome at Biju Patnaik International Airport from Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other dignitaries. The reception featured a vibrant showcase of traditional Odia folk dances, adding a cultural touch to the ceremonial welcome.
President Graces AIIMS Bhubaneswar Convocation as Chief Guest
Soon after her arrival, President Murmu visited AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she graced the 5th convocation ceremony as the Chief Guest. In her address, the President emphasized the importance of dedication and compassion in the medical profession. During the ceremony, she presented 59 gold medals to 31 meritorious students and conferred degrees to 643 graduating healthcare professionals.
Busy Schedule in Cuttack on Day 2
On the second day of her visit, Tuesday, July 16, the President will travel to Cuttack. She is scheduled to attend the 13th annual convocation of Ravenshaw University and lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three buildings of Ravenshaw Girls’ High School.
Additionally, President Murmu will participate in the birth anniversary celebration of Adikabi Sarala Das, a revered 15th-century Odia poet and scholar, where she will also present the Kalinga Ratna Award 2024 during a cultural program dedicated to the literary icon.
This visit marks another emotional and ceremonial return for the first tribal President of India, who has repeatedly expressed her deep bond with her home state and its people.
