New Delhi, July 12, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates in central government ministries and departments during the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela. Addressing the recruits via video conferencing, the Prime Minister congratulated them and encouraged them to embrace their roles with a sense of duty and commitment to public service.
The nationwide event took place across 47 locations, with candidates appointed to key ministries including Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Labour and Employment, and the Department of Posts, among others. The recruits were selected through structured, merit-based recruitment processes and will now assume various roles across the country.
“This is not just a job appointment, but a responsibility and an opportunity to actively contribute to India’s development journey,” said PM Modi.
Rozgar Mela: A Catalyst for Youth Employment
Launched in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has so far facilitated the distribution of over 10 lakh appointment letters, reinforcing the government’s focus on employment generation and the empowerment of youth. The scheme aims to address staffing gaps in government departments while ensuring transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process.
PM Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities and strengthening the nation’s administrative machinery through regular Rozgar Mela drives.
Training and Induction for New Recruits
According to government officials, all newly appointed personnel will undergo induction and training programs tailored to their respective roles. This will help them better integrate into the system and contribute effectively to their departments.
The Rozgar Mela acts as a ceremonial platform for handing over appointment letters to successful candidates selected through competitive exams and recruitment processes. These roles span across various government services and public sector undertakings, making the initiative one of the largest employment distribution exercises in India.
With more Rozgar Mela editions planned in the coming months, the initiative is poised to continue driving India’s mission of youth inclusion in governance and nation-building.
