Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Jeypore Kendriya Vidyalaya, Highlights Koraput’s Educational Growth

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday inaugurated the temporary campus of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jeypore and laid the foundation stone for its permanent campus near Jagannath Sagar, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the region.

Speaking at a public meeting at Vikram Deb University, the minister said the school will deliver quality education and equip students with the skills needed for the future. He hailed Jeypore as a prominent cultural, commercial, and intellectual hub of Odisha and paid homage to Maharaja Vikram Deb Verma for his contributions to India’s freedom movement and Odisha’s formation.

Pradhan said nearly ₹40 crore has been allocated for the Kendriya Vidyalaya project, making the long-pending aspiration of local residents a reality.

The minister also highlighted a series of educational projects launched in the region, including infrastructure worth over ₹610 crore inaugurated at the Central University of Odisha, Koraput, on Saturday. As part of the PM SHRI Schools initiative, around 90 schools in undivided Koraput are being upgraded with an investment of nearly ₹200 crore.

He further informed that Vikram Deb University has received ₹20 crore under the PM-USHA scheme, while the state government has contributed ₹50 crore for Kendriya Vidyalaya development in the area. New laboratories at the Central University are also being established to strengthen academic facilities.

Calling Koraput a region with immense potential, Pradhan said: “Without the development of undivided Koraput, we cannot imagine a developed Odisha. And without a developed Odisha, the dream of a developed India remains incomplete.”
